shift: Full-Time (1.0) - 7:00am - 3:30pm

Under general supervision of the Surgeon and Director of Surgery the Endoscopy RN functions as a member of the endoscopy team. This position is accountable for using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluation in the pre, intra, and post procedural care for the patient. The RN serves as both a team member and team leader as needed and duties are as follows:
1. Interfaces with co-workers and physicians regarding patient care issues
2. Acts as the patient advocate in the pre, intra, and post procedure areas
3. Checks monitoring equipment daily to assure working order to include but not limited to: defibrillator, EKG monitor, Automatic Blood Pressure unit, and lab testing equipment, if appropriate
4. Performs pre, intra, and post procedure assessments
5. Notifies physician of any potential problems regarding the care of the patient.
6. Maintains appropriate documentation of the patient’s care
7. Performs waive testing as requested
8. Documents all aspects of patient care as required by policy
9. Postoperatively assesses status of patient by implementing routine procedure established for post-operative care
10. Assists in transporting patients from the pre-op are and to the recovery area
11. Assists in moving and positioning the patient for all procedures
12. Maintains records/statistics in reference to the HLD (High Level Disinfection) of equipment, supplies, and instruments.
13. Performs necessary cleaning if the procedural room after each case including the reprocessing of scopes
14. Follows the established process for sending scopes and other equipment for repair
Assists in planning supplies for cases the next day, as appropriate
15. Maintains inventory and assists in restocking/ordering of supplies
16. Assists in maintaining and orderly arena for equipment, supplies, and environment of the procedural area
17. Maintains knowledge of proper use of equipment needed for procedures
18. Uses the correct technique and follows all policies in regards to the reprocessing of all equipment, scopes and supplies
19. Knowledge in the use of the scope reprocessor
20. Knowledge of appropriate technique for packaging instruments and other supplies
21. Working knowledge of care for the GI patient based on the American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) standards and Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) recommendations
22. Ability to provide exceptional customer service
23. Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships to ensure a positive and productive work environment
24. Performs other duties as assigned
25. This position has been determined as having occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious materials.

requirements / education

Oklahoma RN License
Previous experience as clinical RN in a GI unit required
Associate's Degree
